Reasons why I didn’t choose Magnolia

The real story behind Magnolia Science Academy in Reseda is told in all the reasons why I didn’t choose it as my daughter’s middle school and high school.

I didn’t choose MSA because it has beautiful, lush grounds.
But it has a lush learning environment with small classes and caring teachers.

I didn’t choose MSA because it is well-known.
But it will be.

I didn’t choose MSA because my friends were placing their kids at this school.
But they are now.

I didn’t choose MSA because it was affordable.
But it is a free public school.

I didn’t choose MSA because it was in my neighborhood.
But it feels like a neighborhood school where the teachers, kids, and parents are a community.

I didn’t choose MSA for having high test scores.
But MSA manages to outperform so many schools and without private resources or teaching to the tests.

I didn’t choose MSA because all of the kids look like my daughter.
But all the kids at MSA look like the diversity I love about Los Angeles.

I didn’t choose MSA because I had to or because it was convenient.
I choose MSA because MSA has the right balance of energy, innovation, and education. Young, but experienced, teachers bring innovation to the classrooms and students can’t help but to learn in an atmosphere of positive energy where every student can find a path to success.

We are thrilled to be at this charter school | Busting Gulen charter schools myths

Parent Testimonial:

I live in Reseda and my daughter goes to a Magnolia School, completing her first school year last June. We are thrilled to be at this school. Her math scores increased remarkably in a single academic year.

The science curriculum at our zoned public school was based on kids filling out worksheets about science. In contrast, our charter school has a real science lab, and students participate in a science fair that walks them through the scientific method.

Thanks to her highly qualified teachers, the school is well recognized at the state level and nationwide. Besides their qualification, the teaching staff is incredibly dedicated, works real hard, and does care about our daughter’s academic improvement.

It is a great feeling to know that the school is always willing to go for the extra mile. I’m very grateful, and I wish success in their endeavors.
